Acerca de Diomedes
Lic. Diómedes Fernández currently teaches Anthropology at BARNA School of Business in Santo Domingo, where he also lectures on the Interpretation of Discursive Texts and Effective Communications. With over three decades of experience in education, psychology, history and the humanities, his academic work bridges the study of human behavior, cultural symbolism, and the evolution of knowledge systems.
Trained in Human Development Psychology (SUNY, New York) and holding a Master’s in Education, Literature, and the Teaching of Writing (Plymouth State University, USA), Professor Fernández has served as consultant, program designer, and mentor in both Dominican and international institutions.
In this course, he approaches astrology through a cultural-anthropological lens, examining how early civilizations used celestial observation as a tool for orientation, prediction, and meaning-making. His teaching emphasizes clarity, evidence, and context — inviting students to explore the ancient dialogue between the rational and the symbolic that continues to shape human thought.

Grounded in anthropology, astronomy, history, and cross-cultural analysis, you’ll study Greco-Roman and Babylonian systems, learn the movements of the heavens, and decode the symbolic frameworks that gave those patterns personal and societal significance. Without this deeper context, astrology remains either mystified or dismissed. But when you study it as a serious human practice, you gain insight into both the sky… and the minds that watched it.
